Faculty Playbook

A 3-part microsite used to teach the course development process to our client's faculty. Prior to this microsite, a PDF containing lengthy text was provided to the faculty to read through. I proposed this interactive website to engage the user and present the information in a fun and digestible way.

My Role

I was responsible for strategizing the content and the design experience of the desktop-focused mini website. I lead the design work, producing sketches and delivering high fidelity and interactive mockups to the stakeholders from January 2016 to February 2016.

 

The Goal

Fun, Informative, and Engaging

I set out to create an informative and engaging experience out of a long and cumbersome document. The original document was used to familiarise the client with how they would experience the working relationship. It was an overwhelming first impression. The goal was to create a website where the client could navigate the most important parts of the document in a fun and engaging way.

 

The Approach

I worked alongside the instructional designer to break down the vast amount of information, provided in the original write-up, into three main sections. I then proposed macro interactions throughout the page to break up long bulleted sections.

I wanted to make a great first impression that would be memorable and leave the client excited and eager to work with a company that takes itself seriously, but has fun while doing it.

Since the write-up described a lot of “who” in the process, I designed characters to match up with the different real-life personas who the client would be working with.

 

Results

Feedback from the faculty was unanimously positive. They felt engaged and were more informed ahead of time on how the process would play out. I told a story instead of presenting a series of bullet points.
